To date, the company has not done anything legal about power outages. However, people all over the country have been tweeting similarly on Twitter. According to data provided in Down Detector, 67% of people are unable to update their news feed on Instagram while 19% are unable to sign in to their accounts. The remaining 13% complained about Instagram.com without responding.
Many WhatsApp users are unable to send or receive messages because of the problem of the server. As for Facebook users, they were complaining about the complete closure of the website and mobile app.
Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger servers were down for many for an hour on Friday, but it looks like they are recovering.
As I was wandering around the Instagram website, I saw a white page with the message “5xx server error.” (The server returns a server error (5xx) when the client makes a valid request to the server, but the server is unable to successfully complete the request for some reason. 5xx refers to any HTTP status code that starts at 5, so among others, this covers 500, 502, and 503 errors). And when the shutdown happened, I reloaded Instagram to my phone and tried to log in but found an error there, too.
Facebook, which owns Instagram and WhatsApp, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the issues which generate the products of Facebook. The Facebook Games Twitter account has admitted that “there are a lot of issues affecting Facebook products right now, including streaming games.” The account said many groups are working on the issue.
